Introduction to IMR HR Services – The Recruitment Specialists

IMR HR Services is an off-shoot of the firm’s management consulting business and has been providing management consultancy services to its various relationship clients. It was primarily started to cater to the needs of few of the consulting clients in the maritime infrastructure sector, namely ports, CFS and terminals and the clients include Gateway Teminals (part of Maersk), Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) and J M Baxi group.

Over the years, the firm has expanded its services to a number of clients across sectors including engineering, IT, pharmaceuticals, and consumer goods. However, the firm is most strongly placed in few niche sectors, namely maritime, oil & gas and financial services.

Maritime

The firm specialises primarily in the on-shore and corporate positions for domestic and MNC companies in shipping, logistics and allied services. It has been a preferred partner for one of the largest domestic players in the shipping sector for most of their technical and back-office functions. The technical positions handled include technical superintendents, head-port operations, supervisors – new buildings, GM-Supply Chain, President – Liner Operations, amongst others and back-office positions include CFO, Head - Legal, Head – IT, GM – Supply Chain,  V.P. – HR, etc

Oil & Gas

The firm got its first major break-through in its oil & gas practice when it was retained by a large domestic group to scale up its E&P team in India and it helped the group in recruiting quite a few middle and senior level people in technical and non-technical functions across various levels of seniority.

Since then the firm has gradually expanded its client list and is helping few other significant players in the oil & gas field. While most candidates have been sourced from the domestically available talent pool, a few candidates for certain critical positions have been sourced from overseas. 

Some of the technical positions include Petroleum Engineers, Petrophysicists, Geologists & Geophysicists, Drilling Engineers, Mud-logging Engineers, Supply Chain Specialists and  Asset Managers. The non-technical include Asset Accountants, Head – Legal (with experience in PSCs, joint ventures), Company Secretary, Chief Financial Officer, Business Controller, Sr. Businesss Analyst, Business Development Manager, etc.

Financial Services

The firm is  fairly active in the banking, private equity and investment banking space and have helped number of companies including banks, private equity players, NBFCs and AMCs in building up their teams. IMR in fact has been one of the firms mandated by a large foreign bank entering India to help them set up their team in India. It is also working closely with Future group for their two group companies, Future Money & Future Generali.   

The positions handled include  Research Analysts, Wealth Managers, Fund Managers, M&A specialists, State & National Heads- Personal & Consumer Loans, Head – Mortgages, V.P. – Distribution, Head – Institutional Sales, Dy. Head for a Infrastructure Private Equity fund, Head – Legal amongst others.

As a brief introduction, Ravi Dole has been a management consultant for over 15 years and worked with Commerzbank AG, Coopers & Lybrand and A F Ferguson & Co before starting IMR. George has been a sourcing specialist having spent many years with Jerry Varghese and handled many positions across industries, especially power, oil & gas and shipping. They are assisted by senior sourcing specialists in Mumbai & Chennai.

The firm’s USP is that its a very niche focussed placement firm with special emphasis on the services sector and this has given it contacts and access to a high quality candidates across functions which is not easily accessible to most other generalist firms.
